>> ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE <<

>> ABOUT THE EXHIBITION <<

In Trance, Tianzhuo Chen creates an ephemeral temple that is informed by imagined futures, a techno-futuristique present as well as mind-expanding animistic rituals and practices. In a performance that spans over the duration of 12 hours and within 6 chapters, a group of musicians and performers hallucinates themselves into a state of trance, yearning for transcendence while declaring spiritual activism. Cultural ciphers collide, are mashed up and spitted out as globally informed rites and acts.

Taking Trance as the starting point, M WOODS invites audiences to immerse themselves in the world of Tianzhuo Chen: in his rebellion against cultural monotony and stereotypical interpretation, and in his persistent search for sincere, genuine modes of expression.
